Abstract: Rule 17a-5 sets forth the reports that a registered broker-dealer is required to prepare and file with the Commission. The rule facilitates the monitoring of the financial condition of securities brokers and dealers by the Commission. The temporary amendment to the rule will require broker-dealers with minimum net capital requirements of $100,000 or greater to file with the Securities and Exchange Commission and their designated examining authority two reports regarding the broker-dealer's preparation for any erroneous result caused by: (i) Computer software incorrectly reading the date "01/01/00" as being the year 1900 or
