Abstract: Dealer reporting on purchases is needed to obtain fishery-dependent data on the landings and purchases of fish and shell fish to monitor, evaluate, and enforce fishery regulations; collect basic fisheries statistics (species, pounds, and value); and to collect certain effort information for economic and biological assessment of the stocks. Data received via the interactive voice response system are needed to monitor harvest levels of certain species on a real-time basis and implement catch limits or closures needed.
