Abstract: The Coast Guard is implementing the Streamlined Inspection Program (SIP) as an alternative to regular Coast Guard inspection procedures. SIP would call for the development of specific inspection procedures by vessel operators. The goal is to increase crew involvement in inspection and thus increase safety.
