This data collection is being conducted pursuant to H.R. 2843, the Aviation Medical Assistance Act of 1998, Public Law 105-170, 112 Stat. 47 (April 24, 1998). The Act directs that major air carrier(s) obtain and submit quarterly reports to the FAA on in-flight medical emergencies, in particular those that may result in death.
