Approved. In order to prevent confusion on grant applications, which as a result of GEPA contain 2 public burden statements (one for GEPA and one for the original application), ED will revise the title of the public burden statement in the GEPA guidance so that it reads... 'Estimated Burden Statement for GEPA Requirements'. Further, where applicable, ED should make an effort to ensure that the GEPA requirements are listed in the 'checklist' of what applicants need to submit.

In compliance with section 427 of the General Education Provisions Act, as amended by Public Law No. 103-382, all applicants for grant awards made by the Department of Education are required to describe in their applications the steps they propose to take to ensure equitable access to, and equitable participation in, the proposed grant activities conducted with Federal funds. The Department has developed a single document that provides common guidance for all competitive and formula grant applicants on how they can meet this requirement.
