Information required by this regulation allows the State or the Administrator to determine that the circumstances at a public water systems satisfy the statutory conditions for granting a small system variance or an exemption, and the a public water system which was granted a small system variance is acting in accordance with the terms of the variance to ensure adequate pro- tection of public health. Some of the required information allows the Administrator and the public to determine that the public had adequate opportunity to review and comment on a decision to grant a small system variance.
