Abstract: The purpose of this information collection is to specify the steps a Medicare ambulatory surgical center (ASC) must take in the event it wishes to discontinue its billing privileges and participation in Medicare. A notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) rebasing ASC payment rates and updating the ASC list was prepared for publication in the Federal Register (HCFA-1885-P). In this NPRM, HCFA proposed to reorganize and, in a few sections, revise 42 CFR 416, which was the trigger for this HCFA-R-230.
