Abstract: The OCC needs banks to develop contingency plans and to ensure that they have adequately prepared their computer systems and related systems to manage date-sensitive operations after 12/31/99. The guidelines establish Year 2000 safety and soundness standards under section 39 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act (12 U.S.C. 1831p-1) to address the Year 2000 problem. The OCC will use the information to ensure Y2K readiness.
