This information collection is
essential because the responsibility for export authorization for
commercial encryption items is being transferred from the
Department of State to the Department of Commerce. The information
required by this collection is required in support of
classification requests regarding encryption items and applications
to export or reexport encryption items and encryption software.
This regulation streamlines the export and reexport of recoverable
encryption commodities and software.
