Abstract: As mandated by Congress, NHTSA is investigating the role of driver fatigue, sleep disorders, and inattention in highway crashes. For this study, a pilot educational campaign will be developed to address drowsy driving behaviors among night shift workers. The campaign will present countermeasures to change knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors related to sleep and to driving practices. A survey will be used to assess the efficacy of the campaign. Results will lead to recommendations for campaign modifications. Sample = about 2,000 shift workers.
