Many computer software programs used
throughout the world were not designed to take into account the
date change that will occur when we enter the year 2000. We are
requesting that wireless telecommunications providers complete the
attached survey regarding steps that have been taken to prevent Y2K
computer system failures when the year 2000 arrives. The
information will be used to better inform the FCC as to the
progress of wireless telecommunications providers and what efforts
are being made to correct any problems.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
