Abstract: Johne's disease is a disease caused by Mycobacterium paratuberculosis. This disease affects cattle, sheep, goats, and other domestic, exotic, and wild ruminants. Johne's disease is a chronic, incurable, and contagious enteritis that results in progressive wasting and eventual death. This disease is nearly always introduced into a clean herd by an infected animal that does not show symptoms of the disease. Our regulations are intended to control the interstate spread of the disease in the United States.
