Abstract: 33 U.S.C. 1901-1911 requires that Marpol 73/78 requirements be implemented in U.S. regulations. International oil pollution prevention (IOPP) certificate is used to ensure and document compliance of Marpol 73/38 and 33 CFR 151 and 155. Ships will suffer restrictions of international voyages if they do not hold a current IOPP certificate.
