data such as bicycle-related head injuries per year and helmet use
rates to provide a greater awareness of the need for and efficacy
of these efforts. An explanation of trends in these data should be
included in future requests for collections.

The purpose of this data collection is
to evaluate the usefulness of recommendations on the use of bicycle
helmets for preventing head injuries published by the CDC in 1995.
The target population for the survey includes persons who requested
the recommendations and persons currently on selected mailing lists
maintained by the NCIPC. The survey instrument will determine the
following regarding the recommendations: Assess the penetration and
usefulness, obtain input on ways it can be made more useful, and
respondents' information needs with regard to bicycle-related head
injuries and other unintentional injuries...
