The Medical Expenditure Panel
Survey-Medical Provider Component (MEPS-MPC) for 1998, 1999, and
2000 is the collection of data from medical providers that will
serve as an imputation source for medical utilization and
expenditure data reported by household respondents. This data will
supplement and verify information provided by household respondents
about the charges, payments, and sources of payment associated with
specific health care encounters and the missing expenditure data.
To improve accuracy, the data is collected directly from medical
providers in the MPC.
