NIH shall ensure that sites selected for random sampling provide an adequate representation of women, minorities, and children of single-parent homes. Efforts described by Bruce Simons-Morton in his 8/19 memo will be made to achieve an adequate overall response rate, which we consider to be at least 80%.

The data collection is needed as part of a randomized trial involving teenagers and their parents, testing whether or not exposure to educational interventions improves parents' management of their teen-aged children's driving behavior and reduces risky driving and motor vehicle crashes among teen drivers.
