Abstract: The Commission has ordered that common carriers must use standard industry-wide labels to display on telephone bills any line-item charges associated with Federal regulatory action. Uniform labelling will enable consumers to better understand the nature of the charges and to compare accurately the price of services offered by competing carriers. The Commission seeks public comment to determine what specific labels should be required. In addition, the Commission seeks comment as to whether to continue an exemption from certain truth-in-billing requirements accorded to CMRS carriers.
