The survey Teacher Quality in U.S. Public Schools in 2000 is designed to provide NCES and the Office of the Secretary with timely data to monitor changes in key indicators of teacher quality. It is second in a proposed series of biennial reports on the preparation and qualifications of public school teachers. In addition, the survey will provide some early estimates for data that will be provided in the Schools and Staffing Survey (SASS) to be conducted 1999-2000.
