The peanut program was established to
support and stabilize farm prices and income and to adjust
production to market needs. Poundage quotas and price support
remain in effect as authorized by the Federal Agricultural
Improvement and Reform Act of 1996 (the 1996 Act) for 1996-2002
crop years. The peanut program is implemented by the regulations
found at 7 CFR 729 and 1446.
