Terms of Clearance: This approval covers only the collection of information through the FEMA forms included in this information collection request. Electronic collections of information are subject to the PRA, but were not included in this submission. Thus, any implementation of the NFIP program using electronic submission must be separately approved. The agency is strongly encouraged to continuing moving towards electronic collection as a means of both reducing overall burden and improving the agency's ability to process information in a timely manner. The agency should not rely on a private group which charges a membership fee for access to an electronic submission process. The cost of $16,856,000 is based on 36,100 applications and 174,600 renewals at a fee of $80 each. The PRA statement on Form 81-25 needs to be revised to be consistent with the PRA statements on the other forms in this submission.

Abstract: In order to provide for the availability of policies for flood insurance, policies are marketed through the facilities of licensed insurance agents or brokers in the various States. Application from agents or brokers are forwarded to a servicing company designated as fiscal agent by FIA. Upon receipt and examination of the application and required premium, the servicing company issues the appropriate Federal flood insurance policy.
