The Department of Commerce,
principally the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric
Administration (NOAA), negotiates awards contracts for the repair,
maintenance, and other services associated with ship repair. The
Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) does not provide the necessary
clauses, so the Department has issued Commerce-specific versions to
address this need. The use of these Commerce-unique clauses
provides a uniform and less burdensome way for potential
contractors to respond to the Department's specialized needs in
this area. Approximately 15 contracts are awarded annually that
