To reduce public exposure to harmful effects of mercury vapors, owners/operators of mercury ore processing plants, mercury cell chlor-alkali plants, and sewage sludge incinerations or dryers must meet national emission limits for mercury. Adequate recordkeeping and reporting enables EPA to verify continuous compliance with the standard.
