This evaluation of the outcomes of the
Design and Manufacturing Research Programs will serve two
fundamental objectives. First, it will provide information to NSF
regarding various types of possible impacts of this form of support
to science and technology. Second, it may provide valuable insights
regarding how effectively these programs, administered by the
Division of Design, Manufacture and Industrial Innovation (DMII),
have operated, and whether changes in the objectives, management or
other aspects of the program may be warranted. Information will be
gathered through surveys of 250 awardees for FY
1989-90.....
