The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) through its Office of Health and Safety implements regulations restricting the importation (42 CFR 71.54) and interstate shipment of infectious substances (42 CFR 72) and select agents (42 CFR 72.6). Importers are required to complete an application for permit. Interstate shipment requires the reporting of damaged packages, tracking of certain infectious agents and reporting the failure to receive certain infectious agents. Prior to transfer of a select agent, the facility must complete an application package and report each transfer.......
