This collection
is approved for six months, during which the agency is instructed
to report to OMB on why this collection is necessary. In
particular, the agency must address why the duplication of
information from the SBICs is necessary for the proper functioning
of the program and why it is not sufficient to rely exclusively on
the information provided by the SBICs themselves. The agency is
also instructed to review this form and reestimate the burden of
complying with this collection, including the burden necessary to
gather and verify the information necessary to complete the form.
If the agency finds that information from the SBICs is generally
unreliable, the agency must justify continuing collecting
information on the Form 468. If the agency finds that SBICs have a
history of inaccurate or false records, the agency must demonstrate
that it has taken all available measures, including legal remedies,
to correct these failings before choosing to impose additional
burden on small businesses.
