Abstract: The evaluation responds to the legislative requirement in P.L. 105-244, Section G to evaluate and report on the effectiveness of projects funded under the Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) program. Students' and parents' expectations for postsecondary education, their knowledge of the academic preparation needed and availability of financial resources, and students' academic performance will be compared over time for students in schools participating in GEAR UP and in schools not receiving GEAR UP services.
