information collection provisions associated with NPRMS for the
FFEL program are not approved at this time. ED is examining public
comment in response to these NPRMS (Guaranty Agencies and Teacher
Loan Forgiveness). The preamble to the final rule will address how
the agency has addressed comments related to minimizing the burden
of this collection while maximizing its utility.

The Federal Family Education Loan
Program regulations further implement the Higher Education
Amendments of 1998 and revises current regulations in areas of the
program administration. The regulations assures the Secretary that
the integrity of the program is protected from fraud and other
misuse of program funds.
