information collection provisions associated with the Perkins Loans
NPRM for the Perkins Loan program are not approved at this time. ED
is examining public comment in response to this NPRM. The preamble
to the final rule will address how the agency has addressed
comments related to minimizing the burden of this collection while
maximizing its utility.

Institutions of higher education make
Perkins loans. Information is necessary in order to monitor a
school's reimbursement to its Perkins loan revolving fund, monitor
how collection costs are charged to borrowers on rehabilitated
loans and to monitor the assignment of defaulted Perkins loans to
the Department.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
