Approval is for two years due to the frequent changes in this
collection. Previous terms of clearance remain in effect as
described below. 1. NCHS shall notify OMB of any minor changes to
the collection through a letter. OMB will have 10 days to respond
to such changes. 2. New components or substantial revisions to the
collection including the integration of the CFSII shall be
submitted with the full package through the standard PRA process.
3. NCHS shall notify OMB of revisions to testing or and diag-
nostics through a letter which OMB will have 10 working days to
review. 4. NCHS shall submit pilot tests for new components to OMB
(the new components themselves are subject to term # 2) and OMB
will have 10 working days to review the submission.

NHANES will draw a large scientific
sample of individuals of all ages from the U.S. population and give
them a voluntary interview and physical examination to measure
health and nutritional status. This will allow estimation of the
prevalence of diseases, risk factors, and of baseline health and
nutritional measures in the population.
