Motor carriers are required to
complete and submit to the FMCSA a Motor Carrier Identification
Report before beginning to operate. Section 217 of the Motor
Carrier Safety Improvement Act of 1999 (MCSIA), Pub. L. 106-159,
113 Stat, 1748 requires the agency to change its regulations to
require motor carriers to update the Motor Carrier Identification
Report data evey 2 years. The Interim final rule is
attached.
