This project is a field study to test
the validity of obtaining drug use data through a combination of
computer assisted personal interviewing and audio computer-assisted
self interviewing. A probability sample of the civilian,
non-institutionalized population of the United States, age 12-25,
will complete a questionnaire that is a subset of the 1999 National
Household Survey on Drug Abuse to determine reported prevalence of
use of tobacco products, alcohol, illicit substances, and illicit
use of prescription drugs and recent environmental exposures to
tobacco and marijuana smoke. Respondents will be asked
