The information
collection requirements associated with the direct final rule
implementing the Needlestick Safety and Pre- vention Act are not
approved at this time. DOL is examining comments in response to the
information collection provisions of this rule. DOL will address
all such comments in a revised submission to OMB.

The Needlestick Safety and Prevention
Act (NSPA) directs OSHA to require that employers update their
exposure control plans to reflect how employers implement new
developments in control technology; solicit input form employees
responsible for direct patient care in the identification,
evaluation, and selction of engineering and work practice controls;
and for certain employers to establish and maintain a log of
percutaneous injuries from contaminated sharps.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
