Abstract: The US EPA is proposing to amend the regulations for hazardous waste management under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). EPA is proposing to list as hazardous two wastes generated during the production of paints. This actionis taken under the authority of RCRA section 3001(b)(1), which authorizes EPA to list wastes as hazardous, and section 3001(e)(2), which directs EPA to make a decision whether to list as hazardous wastes generated from the production of paint. EPA is proposing a oncentration-based listing approach for each of these wastes (K 179 and K180).
