In accordance
with 5 CFR 1320, this survey is approved only with the following
terms of clearance: FS will submit to OMB for review the final
version of this survey after FS reviews and analyzes the results of
the pretest and revises the current draft of the survey as
necessary. Along with the final version of this survey, FS will
submit to OMB the results and its analysis o f the pretest and
explain what, if any, changes were made to the survey in light of
the results of the pretest. Based on the results and analysis of
this pretest, OMB will either (a) approve the final survey, (b)
disapprove the final survey, or (c) suggest changes to the survey
that would lead to approval of the final survey.

This new information collection will
provide attitude, value, and use information from southeast Alaska
residents to assist Forest Service identify public concerns with
management of the Tongass National Forest. The need for
scientifically valid information in this topical area was
identified in the recently completed Tongass Land Management Plan.
Information collected will be used to inform day to day management
decisions, review plan implementation, and to develop the future
direction for this national forest.
