A disproportionate number of all US occupational aircraft crashes occur in Alaska, and aviation creashes are now the leading cause of occupational fatalities in Alaska. This project will identify the perceptions, practices, and observation of air carrier operators and pilots that could affect the safety of flight operations, and quantify the pilot workforce and level of flight activity. This information will allow us to calculate reliable accident rates and to analyze potential risk factors for correlation with existing accident data.
