Terms of Clearance: ED has indicated in a memo dated 7/2/01 that the department will issue guidance to schools on what aggregate data must be reported in terms of race and ethnicity by Fall 2001. If ED is not going to be able to issue guidance by the end of 2001, ED shall inform OMB as soon as possible and work with OMB to develop a timeline that is acceptable to OMB. This collection will eventually be dropped, as states obtain the necessary technology to take advantage of the consolidated data collection approved under 1820-0644.
