The purpose of this information
collection is to determine if states are meeting the requirements
of EPA's operator certifi- cation guidelines. Section 1419(a) of
the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) Amendments of 1996 requires to
EPA to develop guide- lines specifying minimum standards for
certification and recertification of operators of community and
nontransient noncommunity public water systems and to publish final
guide- lines by February 6, 1999. The final guidelines were
published in the Federal Register on February 5, 1999 (64 FR
5916).
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
