Worldwide, there are many strains of
AI virus that can cause varying amounts of clinical illness in
poultry. AI viruses can infect chickens, turkeys, pheasants, quail,
ducks geese, guinea fowl, and a wide variety of other birds.
Migratory waterfowl have proved to be the natural reservoir for
this disease. Birds affected with highly pathogenic AI may show one
or more of the following signs: nasal discharge, coughing and
sneezins, lack of coorfination lack of energy annd appetite,
decreased egg production, soft-shelled or misshapen eggs, and
sudden death without clinical signs.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
