Abstract: The Voluntary National Food Regulatory Standards were developed to address the need for a uniform national program focus on food safety in the retail segment of the food industry. The Standards are for use by state, local and tribal regulatory agencies. The National Standards are designed to promote uniform application of the model FDA Food Code to reduce the risk factors that most frequently cause foodborne illness. They also promote active management control of all risk factors by industry.
