Abstract: A nested case-control study will be conducted to examine the risk of lung cancer mortality among non-metal miners exposed to diesel exhaust. Detailed information will be collected on cigarette smoking and other confounders (e.g., high-risk occupations for lung cancer, asbestos exposure, silica exposure, arsenic exposure dietary factors, medical history of nonmalignant respiratory diseases, as well as each subject's lifetime exposure to diesel exhaust.
