This information
collection request is approved consistent with the following terms
of clearance: (1) CMS will add the OMB number and expiration date,
as well as the PRA burden statement to the program manual at the
earliest revision. OMB expects this to be accomplished before the
next submission of this collection for review. (2) CMS will
continue to take steps to ensure that States are utilizing sampling
methodologies yielding representative samples. (3) CMS will provide
to OMB by 11/9/2001 a report that summarizes current State
strategies for fulfilling these QC requirements.

CMS uses the NCA review process to
determine the accuracy of ineligible determinations focusing on the
reason(s) for denial or the termination of assistance. The results
of NCA reviews are used by the States and the Federal Government to
identify problem areas and plan corrective action initiatives to
eliminate error causing situations.
