Approved as a
generic clearance of documentary requirements for the "listing"
regulations. SSA shall request comment in future NPRMs for each
specific disease listing that falls under this generic clearance,
and shall submit a memo with a change worksheet prior to
publication of final rules, explaining the specific documentary
requirements for the individual listing reg in question, and
summarizing any comments received. This generic clearance currently
only covers the listing for musculoskeletal disorders.

The medical evidence documentation
described in the Listing is used by State Disability Determination
Services to assess the alleged disability. The information,
together with other evidence, is used to determine if an individual
claiming disability benefits has an impairment that meets severity
and duration requirements. The respondents are disability
applicants and other sources of evidence.
