Terms of Clearance: This collection has been withdrawn by ED due to OMB concerns about the structure of this study. ED will resubmit an alternate version of this study at a later date. OMB has concerns with the design of this study. OMB recommends that ED first conduct the feasibility study to ascertain the department's ability to collect relevant data before a full study of program quality and student outcomes is proposed.

Abstract: The study "School and Community Prevention Activities: A National Study of the Safe and Drug-Free Schools Program" will assess the quality of prevention activities funded by the SDFSCA Program and identify changes that will increase program effectiveness. Data collection will include a pilot study, a national mail survey of districts and schools, a national mail survey of Governor's programs and a feasibility sutdy of the relationship of quality and student outcomes. Druing site visits to a subsample of schools, detailed information will be gathered about program quality.
