The National Science Foundation (NSF)
plans to conduct two surveys to obtain the views of the U.S.
academic research community on NSF award size and duration issues.
The surveys will be conducted with principal investigators
receiving NSF grants in FY 2001 as well as representatives from the
principal investigators' respective institutions. The data
collected will provide NSF with information and NSF's impact on the
scientific and educational communities and information to assist
future planning.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).

the proposed collection of information, that the certification
