Abstract: This form is used to collect data from state and local building permit officials. We need data to update the universe of permit- issuing places, the sampling frame for the Building Permit Survey (BPS) and Survey of Construction (SOC). The BPS and SOC provide widely used measures of construction activity, including the economic indicator, "Housing Units Authorized by Building Permits" and Houseing "Starts."
