Approved for use
through 9/2003 with the understanding that this clearance covers
the HEDIS and HOS without revision from those instruments in place
under OMB's clearance in 1997 and the new reporting unit
requirements articulated in OPL 131. The next submission for OMB
review must include a copy of the HEDIS and HOS instruments. In
addition, OMB encourages efforts by CMS to rationalize sampling
methodologies and reduce burdens, but such changes should be
submitted through the PRA process before implementation in the
future. Finally, OMB requests additional explanation of CMS' policy
of implementing more than one HOS survey each year. This
explanation must be submitted with a burden correction worksheet
for further consideration and action by OMB.
