The National Judicial Reporting Program will obtain national estimates of felony sentences by type of crime and by length and type of sentence. The NJRP will provide the only source of this essential information at the national level. If these felony sentencing data are not collected, a serious gap will exist in our knowledge of the criminal justice system. The respondents for this survey are clerks of courts prosecutors and state statistical agencies.
