The regs in 7 CFR 319.56-319.56-8 prohibit or restrict the import of fruits and veges into the US from certain parts of the world to prevent the introduction and dissemination of fruit flies and other injurious plant pests that are new to or not widely distributed within and throughout the US. We are proposing to amend the Fruits and Vegetables regulations to list a number of fruits and veges from certain parts of the world as eligible under specific conditions for importation into the US. Furthermore, we are proposing to declare certain areas of MX as fruit fly-free areas. This action would relieve restrictions
