The Agricultural Health Study, a prospective cohort of 89,189 farmers, their spouses, and commercial applicators of pesticides from Iowa and North Carolina, provides information on specific medical conditions. The current efforts seeks to evaluate efficacy of certain questions or sets of questions for screening out false-positives for self-reported RA and to identify subgroups to target for etiologic studies based on relatively high prevalence of RA and feasibility of disease confirmation.
