This methodological study will be a three-phased clinical validation study of the substance abuse and dependence module of the National Survey on Drug Use and Health. The first phase will determine psychometric properties of the current module. If it is determined that the diagnosis of substance abuse and dependence developed from the module does not sufficiently correspond with the diagnosis developed from a structured clinical interview assessment, the module will be modified and the psychometric properties of a revised module will be tested as the second phase.
